Courtesy of the Today Show

The Today show this morning featured a very interesting segment during which they profiled several affordable clothing and accessory lines. I was particularly impressed with the Mountain Bag, a drool-worthy leather handbag made by the nomadic Barabaig tribe of Eastern Africa. The bag is just one of the pieces offered as part of the Amias project, a movement by more than 200 Barabaig men and women who craft jewelry and handbags inspired by traditional fashions.

So, if you're looking to buy something special (and affordable) for a friend, colleague or family member, consider giving the gift of empowerment by purchasing a beautiful beaded scarf, handbag or other unique item.
